Worship Team Values & Expectations

OUR VALUES

Love God

We are chosen and anointed by God to do good work-it is a privilege to lead others. We desire to grow closer to God and foster a lifestyle of prayer, Bible reading, and worship. We take next steps to grow spiritually so that we can lead our church and others well.

Love People

We honor and submit to authority, understanding its biblical grounding and purpose. We love our team and foster healthy community and accountability that is authentic and encouraging. We exist for others, serving well and carrying our team culture to everyone we meet.

Pursue Excellence

We hold ourselves to a higher standard because of WHO we serve. We pursue excellence in our role on the team and commit to continuing to learn and grow. We choose to live a life of integrity, both publicly and privately, that is consistent with our honour code.

Choose Joy

We serve God out of delight rather than duty, and we have fun doing it! We choose joy daily-our attitude reflects who we are as leaders and followers of Christ. We believe that choices lead, and feelings follow. We have an attitude of gratitude.

OUR HEART

We Are Presence Driven

We are creating a distraction-free environment for people to encounter God. Everything we do is about helping people focus on Jesus. We pursue excellence in music, production, and preparation not to perform, but to serve — removing distractions so people can fully engage with God. We stay sensitive to the Holy Spirit, lead with authenticity, and prioritize the presence of God over everything else.

We are Team Players

We are one team, not individual performers. We choose unity, honour, and encouragement in everything we do. We believe the best teams are built on trust, humility, and a willingness to prefer others over ourselves. We communicate well, show up for each other, and stay flexible when plans change. We understand that what we do is bigger than any one person and their talent. We protect the culture of the team with how we speak, serve, and support one another.

We are Growing

We reserve the right to get better. Excellence is not perfection — it’s a commitment to continual growth. We stay teachable, prepared, and willing to improve because what we do matters and people matter. We believe God honors humility, consistency, and a heart that’s always willing to grow spiritually, personally, and musically.

We are on Mission Together

We carry a big-picture mindset and a “whatever it takes, wherever needed” attitude. Whether we’re on the platform, helping behind the scenes, stacking chairs, supporting another ministry, or jumping in where needed, we understand the mission is always bigger than one team or one role. We’re a part of a church family on mission- committed to building the house together with humility, flexibility, and unity.

TEAM EXPECTATIONS

Spiritually

We ask every team member to:

      • Be growing in your relationship with Jesus. Worship ministry flows from a life of worship, not simply musical ability
      • Live with integrity on and off the platform
      • Be actively engaged in the life of Generations Church. Team members are expected to attend regularly and participate in the life of the church family.
      • Be committed to serving. We expect team members to have a heart to serve beyond their particular role on the Worship Team
      • Be a faithful tither and practice Biblical generosity. (We believe tithing and generosity are part of Biblical discipleship and an expression of worship)
      • Stay teachable and open to feedback
      • Protect unity within the team and church

Practically

We ask every team member to:

      • Arrive prepared and on time
      • Learn songs before rehearsal
      • Respond to schedules promptly
      • Communicate early when unavailable
      • Serve with flexibility and positivity
      • Honour team culture and leadership

COMMITMENT

    • We use Planning Center for all scheduling. When you receive a serving request, we ask that you respond with a clear “Yes” or “No” in a timely manner so we can plan effectively as a team. We do not rely on follow-up texts or calls as reminders.
    • A “No” is not a bad answer—it’s clear communication. If you’re not available or can’t commit to a weekend, simply decline the request. Please don’t leave a serving request unconfirmed into the week of the service.
    • When you say “Yes” to a weekend, you are committing to the full experience of serving that Sunday.
    • We expect team members to be available to serve at least once a month.

Weekly Commitment

    • Mid-week: Personal practice time to learn and prepare the weekend set list using the provided resources
    • Sunday: Call time is 8:30am, meaning you are fully set, tuned, and ready to play at that time
    • Service: We serve through the Sunday gathering and typically finish shortly after

If you need extra time for setup or preparation, please plan to arrive earlier so you are fully ready by call time.

Our goal is simple: come prepared, serve with excellence, and create a distraction-free environment for people to encounter God.

Our goal is to dress in a way that removes distraction and serves the room. Clothing should have a modest, appropriate fit for platform environment.

We understand fashion is very subjective. If you are unsure whether something is appropriate, please contact us - we’re happy to help.
