What is a Parent Cue?

Well, it's a prompt. It's a whisper in your ear: "Talk to your kid about this," or "Why not try this at dinner tonight?" A nudge to talk about God, faith, life or to just have fun together.

It's a way to incorporate conversations about God and His Big Story into everyday moments - during meal time, when you're playing a game outside, when you're in the car.

We want these CUE's to help you do three things:

  1. Connect to God's Story
  2. Uncover something about life
  3. Experience something together

Deuteronomy 6:5-9 says: "Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates."

But here's something important to remember - you don't have to do all of this. You don't have to do everything, just do something more. Just do one more thing - not five more. It will make a huge difference in your life and in the life of your child.

Because we use the Orange strategy curriculum, you'll notice that the content between the Parent Cue lines up with what your child is learning at church. It's a great way to reinforce these great truths to your child.   If you'd like this month's parent cue, contact us!
