Step 1: Salvation Through Jesus. Learning & Maturing for a Lifetime
WHEN: THIRD SUNDAY OF EVERY MONTH
Who is God
God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God. God loved you so much that He created you so that you can have a relationship with Him.
(Genesis 1:1,26-27; 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; John 3:16; 2 Corinthians 13:14; 1 Peter 1:2)
Who is Jesus
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father, who is God. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all mankind by dying on a cross. He arose from His grave after being bodily dead for three days. He did this to show His power over sin and death. Jesus ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
(Isaiah 9:6; Matthew 1:22-23; John 1:1-5; 14:10-21; Acts 1:9-11; Romans 1:3-4; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; 1 Timothy 6:14-15, Titus 2:13; Hebrews 4:14-15)
What is Sin
Sin is what separates us from God. It isolates us and puts a wall between us and God. Sin is really rebellion against God. It’s something in our very nature that causes us to choose to do our own thing rather than choosing to do things God’s way.The fact is nobody is perfect. Romans 3:23 tells us that “Everyone has sinned and fallen short of God’s glorious standard.” In fact sin is responsible for both our physical and spiritual death. Romans 6:23 says, “The payment for sin is death. But God gives us the free gift of life forever in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
(Exodus 34:7; Isaiah 53:6; Galatians 5:19-21; Colossians 3:5-6; 1 John 1:7-9)
What is Salvation
Salvation is a gift from God to humankind. Humankind can never make up for sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can a person be saved from sin’s penalty. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith.
(John 1:12; 14:6; Romans 5:1; 6:23; 10:13; Galatians 3:26; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5; 1 Peter 3:18)
At Generations Church, we believe water baptism is a celebration of your decision to follow Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Just as the symbols of the wedding and wedding ring are a declaration of a marriage covenant, water baptism is the outward declaration of the covenant you’ve made with God. As your church, we would like to stand with you as you publicly declare you have made the decision to surrender your life to the Lord.
